Teen REACH
Sankofa Pride (Nia Nation)
The mission of the Teen REACH, NIA Nation is to provide youth and their families with opportunities and resources needed to cultivate their strengths and develop positive social networks that will nurture their intellect and aspirations. The Teen REACH (Responsibility, Education, Achievement, Caring and Hope) NIA Nation afterschool programs provide structured activities for at-risk youth between ages of 6-14 years during non-school hours. Studies have shown that children who attend "quality" after-school programs have better peer relations, emotional adjustment, school grades, and behaviors than their peers who are unsupervised after-school. At each site, they implement core elements: academic achievement, life skills, mentoring, sports/recreation, and parental involvement.
