Volunteer Opportunites
Volunteers are at the heart of any organization that is successful in its community. The Urban League of Champaign County relies on volunteers to add that 'special touch' to its programs. Listed below are a few volunteer opportunites presently available and their specific contacts. Project READProject READ literacy volunteer tutors help adults improve basic reading, writing, math, and English language skills. They work one-on-one with adult students and also assist teachers in Adult Basic Education, High School Equivalency, English as a Second Language, Transition to College, Family Education, and Workplace Education programs. Requirements include: Twelve hours of training which earns you certification in literacy training. Call for weekday and evening training times. Tutors work throughout the Parkland College district. Become a volunteer tutor today. Marketing and Public RelationsRequirements: Expertise needed for creating and editing articles for newsletter. This newsletter will take on two formats, web-based and hard-copy. Have the ability to work in-house or at home. This is an independent opportunity for someone needing little direction and supervision.
